Calling all college students (future unemployed waiters)! If you think you have what it takes to be funny, Flappers Comedy Club and Restaurant invites you to participate in our 2nd Annual Flappers College Comedy Contest, sponsored by Flappers Comedy University (where learning is a joke) which takes place at both our Burbank & Claremont clubs during the month of March. Audiences and guest celebrity judges will vote on who will win $500 in cash and prizes (.001% of your student loan payments), and all shows will feature special guest headliners as seen on Comedy Central, HBO, and MTV. Preliminary rounds will be held in Claremont on Wednesday March 12th at 8pm & Burbank in the Yoohoo Room on Thursday March 13th at 9:30pm, Friday March 14th at 11:30pm, and Saturday March 15th at 11:30pm. The top three winners from each preliminary round will perform in the final round on Thursday, March 27th at 10pm in the Mainroom at Flappers Burbank. In the final round, the first place winner receives $300 plus a paid spot at the club, the second place winner receives $125 plus a $50 Flappers Gift Card and a guest spot at the club, and the third place winner receives $75 plus a $50 Flappers Gift Card and a guest spot at the club. Additional prizes, including scholarships for Flappers University classes, will also be awarded. For more info or to enter the contest, email bookings@flapperscomedy.com with "2014 College Comedy Contest" in the subject line, or call 818-845-9721.

BOOK
Comedian Seth Clark

Seth Clark started college to become a minister and found that most religion was more laughable than believable. He was born in the Carolinas but moved to SoCal to pursue graduate school. His combined experiences of fundamentalist Christianity, American Buddhism, and the general mayhem of life have produced an individual that is a full time scholar, comedian, and craft beer aficionado. When´s he not busy studying ancient texts, telling jokes, or delivering lectures, one can find him at local breweries. Seth´s love of the stage comes from the charisma he was exposed to in the church and the theatrical training that he received in high school and college. In college, he majored in Religious Studies and continues this work in History of Religions at a graduate level here in Claremont. He believes that life is more credulous than credible and there lays the humor seen in everyday life.

Comedian Duncan Gale
I.O. CHICAGO, PLAYGROUND THEATER, I.O. WEST
Duncan Gale hails from Charlottesville, VA originally, but he's been all over. After attending college in Oberlin, OH, studying improvisational theater in Chicago, IL, and spending a couple of years of graduate school in Cambridge, MA, he decided he wanted to come out to Southern California for the big show: a PhD program in Philosophy of Religion! But amidst his years of toil in graduate school, he has rediscovered comedy, and has been told by a couple of non-descript lay-abouts that he actually has kind of a knack for it! He sees the stage as a place to unleash his erudite insanity, and if a small contingent of the crowd turns out to be into it, that's cool.
