At Flappers University, our instructors will teach you how to be in the moment, as well as explore the layers of characterization, resulting in depth of performance that cannot be achieved by reciting sides alone. Develop your listening skills and learn how to work with others to create scenes and characters out of sheer imagination. Gain the confidence to create and live in the skin of characters at a moment's notice. Live the truth. This fun, high energy class will introduce you to the basics of improv comedy. You will apply the same principles learned here to your stand-up, writing, webisodes, auditions or theatre performances. The whole point is to bring your unique voice to comedy all while making these choices on the spot! This class will empower you to have the confidence to make spontaneous calls. This is a solid foundation to set you up for more advanced improv. must be over 18 years old, ladies: no short shirts or high heeled shoes. Christine Barger has been making audiences laugh for over 20 years as a ventriloquist, improvisor and actress. She began teaching theatre and improvisation skills at schools and theatres around the country over 10 years ago. She has taught for Pressman Academy, GSUSA, Prairie Fire Children's Theatre, St. Anastasia School, LA Connection Comedy Theatre and more. Her credits include Made of Honor, Party Down, Ghost Whisperer, Dexter, Wizards of Waverly Place & USA's Character Road Trip. Christine earned her bachelor's degree in theatre from Ball State University. Her additional studies include Groundlings, IO West, CalState LA, Ivanna Chubbuck Studios, Beverly Hills Playhouse and Westminster College (UK).
